CRUSADA / C-SALUD faculty and PhD Student Scholars were active contributers at the 2012 American Public Health Association Annual Meeting, San Francisco, CA. This meeting was held from October 27-31, 2012, and the theme of the meeting was “Prevention and Wellness Across the Life Span.” Center personnel were privileged to participate as guest lecturers and also present a scientific poster.

The lecture was led by PhD Candidate Elena Cyrus-Cameron on research conducted by Patria Rojas, PhD, MPH, MSW, Frank R. Dillon, PhD, and Miss Cyrus-Cameron herself titled “Determinants of Pre-Immigration HIV/STD Risk Behaviors Among Recent Latino Immigrants in South Florida, USA.”

Adelaida Rosario Hoyos, PhD Candidate, presented a scientific poster based on research conducted by herself and Mario De La Rosa, PhD, titled “Folk/Traditional Healer Use Among Latinos with Chronic Illnesses: Psychosocial Sequelae Support.” This research is the primary focus of Mrs. Rosario Hoyos’s dissertation.
